Description

I have written this book with the intention to understand the roots of the present Hindutva political ideology and how this ideology came into existence in a debate full of contentious topics. This book is the author’s journey to discover modern heroes of ancient civilization. Nation and its conception in the context of India according to the author cannot be “A nation in the making only” rather it will have to rely on “the Ancient civilizational roots’ ‘ of this land and culture. No one can deny that the Indian state should be secular while dealing with its citizens but the Indian nation should have civilizational values which represent this land from time immemorial. This work has enabled the author to understand the depth of civilizational power flows inherently in the culture of India which has contributed to its present position. This work will enable the readers to understand the contribution of different personalities in making the present India. Until recently courtly historians like Bipan Chandra and leftist scholars like Sumit Sarkar, Romila Thapar or even the latest works like Sheikar Bandopadhya do not cater to such a perspective. Indian National Congress has been the main driving force of Indian freedom struggle according to the dominant narrative of history but that same narrative cannot understand the foundational work of Arya Samaj which gave ideological and spiritual vigor to the nation especially in northern India. Present description of India’s freedom struggle starts from British rule but there is no mention of colonial rule of Mughals or Delhi Sultans. Author cannot deny that in this task many great sons and daughters of Hindustan may have missed this work or many important topics may have been skipped.
